 Sessions

Each session lasts an hour.
They are usually, but do not have to be, weekly.
The current cost is £50 per hour.

It's always good to have a chat on the phone to start to get an idea about each other, or if you'd like we can meet on zoom for a half hour or so. I would not charge for this and it will also allow you to get in touch with other potential therapists so you can get a feel for who you think will suit you best (which I encourage you to do).

I work face to face or online or by telephone.

How many sessions?

How long is a piece of string? Everyone is different and what people need can vary at different times. Some people stay in therapy for a while and some come for a short term fix of a particular issue.

I offer both short term and long term therapy. Dependant upon what you bring it is often a good idea for us to have a review after about 6-8 sessions.

What do we talk about?

We might discuss your past, your future, your present. Your fears, your goals, your current relationship with the people around you. We might do some exercises to help you feel better. We might have you learn how to self-soothe. We might simply sit and emotionally hold you through your journey.

Is what we talk about confidential?

Client confidentiality is one of the central ethical pillars of therapy. Only in certain prescribed circumstances would your details be disclosed to others e.g. a threat of harm to you or others.

And so when therapists take our cases to clinical training, supervision or research they get anonymised so that no-one can realise who it is that we are discussing.

Who watches the watcher?

In line with all therapists, whether trainees or full, I have a supervisor that I can take my cases to for advice. Everyone has blind spots and everyone should be able to listen to advice. It ensures that you get the best help that is peer reviewed.
